Copyright and the photographs
Every photograph on this site was made by a real person who was standing there. The pictures are their work and remain their property. This page explains what that means for you, and how to reach us if you think something here infringes your rights.
Who owns what
All photographs on fieldframes.cc are © their respective photographers, who retain full copyright. Each photographer has licensed their work to Field Frames ([LEGAL ENTITY NAME]) to display it here and to produce and sell prints of it. Copyright arises automatically when a photograph is made; it does not depend on a notice, a watermark or a registration, and it applies to every image on the site, including the small previews.
The Field Frames name and mark, the site's text, design and code are © Field Frames. Film footage shown on the site is © its makers on the same basis.
What you may do
Look. Share a link to any page or photograph; each frame has a share link that opens it here. Quote our text briefly with attribution. Post a screenshot of a page in the ordinary course of talking about it, with a link back.
What you may not do without written permission
- Download, copy, save, screenshot at size, or otherwise reproduce a photograph for any use other than viewing it here.
- Publish, post, embed or redistribute a photograph, including on social media, in newsletters, on other websites or in print.
- Use a photograph commercially in any way: on products, in advertising, in editorial, as stock, or as a design element.
- Make derivative works: crops, edits, composites, colour changes, or images generated from ours.
- Use any photograph, film or text from this site to train, fine-tune, evaluate or prompt a machine-learning or generative AI system, or scrape the site for a dataset. We opt out of text and data mining to the fullest extent the law allows.
- Remove or alter any copyright notice, metadata or watermark.
What buying a print gives you
When you buy a print you own that physical object. You may hang it, give it away or sell it on. You do not acquire the copyright or any licence to reproduce the image: no scanning, photographing for redistribution, printing more copies, or commercial use. If you would like rights beyond the print itself, ask; we license work for editorial, commercial and interior projects, and the photographer decides.
Licensing and permissions
For any use not covered above, including publication, commercial licensing, exhibition, or larger or unusual print formats, email [email protected] with the photograph, the intended use and where it will appear. We answer quickly and we are usually happy to talk.
People and places in the photographs
Where a recognisable person appears in a photograph we offer as a print, we hold their consent or the image is offered as a work of fine art in a manner we believe the law permits. If you appear in a photograph on this site and would like it removed or not sold, tell us and we will listen.
Reporting a copyright concern (DMCA)
We respect other people's copyrights as much as our own. If you believe material on fieldframes.cc infringes a copyright you own or represent, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated agent:

To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice should include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
- The URL of the material on our site you say is infringing.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will review the notice promptly, remove or disable access to material we agree is infringing, and notify whoever posted it. If you believe something was removed by mistake you may send a counter-notice with the same details and a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed in error. Knowingly false notices can carry liability under section 512(f).
Infringement of our work
We do look for our photographs elsewhere on the web. Unauthorised use will result in a takedown request to the host and may be followed by an invoice for a licence fee or legal action. If you have used one of our images by mistake, get in touch; we would rather sort it out simply.
